The second consortium meeting of “Volunteering in Humanitarian Aid” (VolinHA) projects took place from the 18th to the 21st of May in Paris.
Since October 2015, these two projects, coordinated by France Volontaires and La Guilde, gather 9 European partners and 5 partners from third countries from the ActionAid, Red Cross and Caritas networks. They are part of the EU Aid Volunteers initiative, strengthening the national dynamics of volunteering to prepare European volunteers deployment within humanitarian projects.
Last week, the 25 participants representing sending organizations (from Ireland and Slovenia to Italy, Greece, Hungary…) and hosting organizations (from Philippines and Ecuador to Burundi, Burkina Faso and Bangladesh) gathered in France Volontaires head office to:
- Exchange their practices about international volunteering management (identifying projects and partners, recruitment process, tutoring, debriefing) in order to improve these practices and to be certified under the initiative
- Set up exchanges with other organizations to design projects under the EU Aid Volunteers initiative
They ended the consortium meeting by visiting the “Salon des Solidarités” in Paris. They had the opportunity to network. For the beginning of the “Salon des Solidarités”, the Commissioner Stylianides talked about the EU Aid Volunteers :
