To participate in the initiative, organizations, sending and hosting, must obtain certification from the European Union and managed by the EACEA executive agency, who :
- are responsible of the identification, selection, preparation and deployment of volunteers,
- monitor before and after volunteering experience abroad,
- have a mission to build joint projects in response to calls for proposals from DG ECHO.
Certification for Sending Organizations
By becoming a sending partner organization improves its expertise and enjoys sharing good practices. To be certified “sending organization”, the structure must perform a self-assessment, and provide evidence to show that it meets quality standards.
Certification for Hosting Organizations
Be a host partner offers the opportunity to strengthen its disaster management capabilities, including those of the staff. It contributes to the construction of humanitarian projects, tailored to their needs. To be certified “host organization”, the structure must perform a self-assessment, and provide three references that demonstrate that it meets quality standards.
In both cases, the application is reviewed within 6 months after submission.
